Neal Ardley says he still remains in the dark as to whether Notts County’s season will go ahead as planned after admitting the National League’s latest statement on the crisis “didn’t say anything”. The Magpies are due to begin their campaign at Dover on October 3, but those plans are still up in the air amid fears the campaign could still face a delay. This week it emerged some clubs do no want to start the season until fans are allowed back inside stadiums, but that prospect looks unlikely for the next six months amid a second spike in coronavirus cases. That has thrown the build-up to the season into chaos and the only way the season will go ahead is if the government provide financial aid to ensure clubs can survive playing behind closed doors. The League said in a statement on Thursday they are hoping to receive assistance from the government, but it did not clarify if the season will start as planned. Magpies boss Ardley said: “The statement is about all I know. “I am not even sure what the statement is supposed to be saying as it doesn’t say anything really. “We are going into the final week of pre-season with absolutely no clue whatsoever as to whether the season will start. “I find that incredible, but that’s where we are. I read the statement and can’t really work it out – it doesn’t say anything. “We’ll wait and see what happens with the government offering some kind of support as a base going forward. “I guess it’s watch this space.” Ardley made his feelings clear during a meeting with other managers on Monday, but said he was the only one to raise concerns. And he still remains adamant that there is a way to start the season as planned with talks continuing about streaming services for supporters that will allow them to pay to watch games via the Internet. “We had a managers’ meeting on Monday and spent one hour and 20 minutes on the handball rule and 10 on any other business,” he said. “That’s what the meeting was about. “I was the only one who spoke up at the end and asked questions as to what plan B was when I was told the league wouldn’t be going ahead without fans. “I asked questions about the five subs rule at a time when players haven’t played for months. “Injuries are likely and given the schedules we have, why have we only got five subs? “I got no real response to that either. “I don’t know what other managers and clubs are thinking. “I get the financial difficulties of having no supporters, but if the alternative was let’s wait a week or two and this will get sorted then I’d be willing to do that. “But that’s not the alternative. The alternative is you don’t play any football and you will be the only two steps that don’t. “That’s why I am adamant we have to find a way.” from https://taxi.nearme.host/incredible-notts-county-boss-neal-ardley-left-perplexed-by-national-league-nottinghamshire-live/

PCE inflation tends to be rather lower than the better-known customer price index. “We might really keep rates at this level beyond that. However we are not even going to begin thinking of raising off, we expect, till we in fact get observed inflation equivalent to 2 percent. Also we desire our labor market indications to be consistent with maximum work.” The Fed cut rates to near absolutely no in March and took other actions to fight a recession that took hold as businesses shut down and consumers remained home to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Clarida stated that with more government aid from Congress and the steps the Fed has actually already taken, the United States economy could return from the present “deep hole” of joblessness and weak demand in maybe 3 years. To help that procedure, the Fed in late August modified its technique to monetary policy to devote to lower rates for longer durations of time, allowing the risk of higher inflation to try to motivate a more powerful financial recovery and more task gains for workers. A follow-up policy declaration recently provided more particular assistance about future choices, however questions stay about what the brand-new method will suggest in practice. Clarida said there need to not be any confusion: Rates will not increase up until labor markets recuperate and prices struck the Fed’s target. “So lower for longer, and we have provided some observable metrics,” for evaluating when a rate hike argument may start, he said. Choices about any possible overshoot of inflation are “scholastic” at this point, he included, and can be made as soon as the economy rebounds. from https://taxi.nearme.host/habtoor-signs-up-with-israeli-tech-firm-on-robo-taxi-plan/ John David Washington stars in Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming film Tenet. NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas—The biggest irony in this summer’s cinematic saga over Tenet—director Christopher Nolan’s latest heady time travel detective movie that he and his studio insist must play in The Theater despite a worldwide pandemic—is that the film itself will inevitably get lost. Whatever performances, ideas, and dazzling set pieces Nolan manages to imbue into this film have and will become secondary to the bigger industry struggles. What does reopening theaters safely look like? Is it too soon to do so? Does limiting the release of such a high profile film to theaters become unethical if it puts viewers at risk? And if the bottom line continues to motivate all this, does pivoting to VOD-first, even temporarily in the midst of unprecedented health challenges, mean eventually transitioning to that model (and its potentially smaller revenue ceiling) forever? All that stuff sat on my mind when I received two emails last month. The first, on August 11, seemed to be testing the water. “How do you feel about attending a ‘press only’ (no guests) in a playdate theater, where there will be social distancing and face masks required?” My response: lol, no. Even movie theaters boasting HEPA Filter Vacuums and 25 percent capacity run directly in conflict with World Health Organization advice that suggests the best way to minimize COVID-19 risk is to avoid the Three Cs: crowded places, close-contact settings, and confined or enclosed spaces. The Texas Medical Association placed “going to the movies” near the top of its COVID-19 risk scale alongside experiences like “going to a theme park,” “eating at a buffet,” and “attending religious service with 500+ patrons.” If you haven’t read the news in the US lately, it remains not good: we’re about to surpass 200,000 COVID-19 deaths in the very near future as communities grapple with things like school re-opening, football season, and in-person voting. from https://taxi.nearme.host/dont-risk-your-health-to-see-tenet-which-is-uber-fun-but-still-just-a-movie/ Don’t get stuck in a rut! An alert has been issued to dog owners after a pet became ‘dangerously ill’ after walking in an East Midlands woodland. A vets in Gainborough, Lincolnshire, has treated a pet for Seasonal Canine Illness after it picked up the disease walking in woods near the town according to Lincolnshire Live. The illness was first picked up in this country in 2009 and their has been more outbreaks since. Several dogs were reported to have died from the disease when it flared up again in 2016, and with cases this year already dog owners are being urged to know the telltale signs. A spokesman for Animal Health Trust said: “We do not know what causes it but if you think there is something wrong with your dog just go to the vets, do not delay. “It does come on so quickly but with treatment a lot of dogs do pull through.” Here’s everything you need to know about the illness and how to keep your pooch safe: What is it?SCI is described as a mystery illness. No one knows what causes it. But it is mainly found in autumn months, from August to November. How do dogs get it?The illness is usually spotted within three days of a dog being walked in a woodland area. It can affect any dog who has been allowed off the lead in woodland, but small dogs are slightly more likely to be affected. What are the symptoms?Dogs who contract the illness are hit with vomiting, diarrhoea and lethargy. How is it treated? If you notice any of these symptoms and think it could be SCI, you should take your dog to the see a vet immediately. Treatment for the specific disease is unknown, however vets will attempt to alleviate the symptoms, rehydrate the canine on a drip and possibly prescribe antibiotics. Although the illness can be fatal, as long as treatment is given as soon as possible, dogs should recover. How to prevent it?Keep your dog on a lead during woodland walks so you can keep a close eye on them. Monitor your dog’s health in the days after a woodland walk. If you notice a change, don’t hesitate – get your dog to the vets ASAP. Keep hydrated. The chances of your dog catching the illness is lower if they’re hydrated during the woodland walk. Protect against mites as they have been commonly noted on dogs suffering from SCI, so could be linked to the illness. from https://taxi.nearme.host/warning-over-seasonal-canine-illness-what-it-is-and-how-your-can-protect-you-dog-leicestershire-live/ A Reddit user has shared a guide to “secret “codes which will enable you to quickly narrow down your Netflix search. Council workers are to park refuse lorries along the route of a funeral cortege to pay tribute to much-loved colleague tomorrow. Andy Tipton paid tribute to 53-year-old father-of-three-Lee, who died earlier this month from cancer. “Lee was just a great bloke, one in a million,” he said. “In and out of work he would do anything for anyone and often did. “He was a laugh a minute and had a heart of gold. “We are all devastated at losing him. Everyone loved him.” Andy, from Blaby , told how Lee, from Ratby, was first to spot a person who needed help while they were out on their rounds. Andy crewed with Lee for six years as they did a refuse collection round covering Blaby, Countesthorpe, Kirby Muxloe, Braunstone, Cosby , Glenfield, Sapcote and Enderby. “I remember one day in Sapcote, Lee spotted that an elderly woman seemed to be lying on the floor in front of her glass door. “Lee leapt out and went across. It turned out she had fallen and could not get up. “We got in. Lee took his coat off and wrapped it around her as he waited until a neighbour got her settled and called the doctor. “Another day in Kirby Muxloe, Lee saw that man in the street looked agitated. He was late for work as his battery was flat so his car would not start. “Lee, myself and Simon Wright, the other loader on our crew, stopped and pushed the car to give him a bump start. It felt good. “Lee often used his break to have a cuppa and a natter with elderly residents on the round. They loved him. “I know the residents will step up and put the bins out so we can all pay our respects to Lee. “Our heartfelt sympathies go out to wife and children and all his family.” A Blaby District Council spokesman sad: “Lee worked on different waste areas, as all drivers do when they first start at BDC but predominantly on refuse collection for the last couple of years,” said a council spokesman. “As we do a fortnightly collection service Lee and his crew covered a vast majority of the district over each two week period, touching nearly every village. “Lee’s funeral is on Friday September 11 at Countesthorpe Crematorium, Foston Road, Countesthorpe, at 12pm. “Our staff will be parking up just off Foston Road on Rosebank Road/Hazelbank Road and standing along Rosebank and Foston Roads to show their appreciation and respect for Lee and his family.” from https://taxi.nearme.host/binman-colleague-pays-tribute-to-refuse-lorry-driver-with-heart-of-gold-leicestershire-live/ |
