Work is now well underway to "address the concern of growing congestion" at two hectic junctions in Walsall. Roadworks appeared outside the Co-op store on Brownhills Road, Walsall Wood, on Monday, April 16. It comes as part of the A461 Lichfield Roadway junction improvements scheme which aims to end the "growing blockage" at the junction there and with the A452 Chester Road.A Walsall Council transport file reads: "The A461 Lichfield Roadway is an arterial path, which runs in a north-easterly instructions from Walsall town centre to the District border. The Salters Road method to Lichfield Road in Walsall Wood prior to work is finished"It carries big volumes of traffic throughout the day which results in heavy blockage at peak times."The A461 junction improvement plan looks for to resolve the issue of growing congestion and the absence of traffic capacity along this strategic route. "The plan will target 2 places: A461 Lichfield Road-B4152 Salters Road junction and A461 Lichfield Road-A452 Chester Roadway (Shire Oak) junction.
