“Dave has excellent days and bad days.”The last thing Dave desires is to be treated with pity.”Even though things have not ended up as we both prepared, Dave does not be sorry for pursuing his enthusiasm, doing what he loved– playing football. from https://taxi.nearme.host/ex-notts-county-gamer-and-england-captain-has-brain-disease-most-likely-linked-to-heading-nottinghamshire-live/ ROSEVILLE, Calif.– A California taxi driver knew something sounded fishy when his elderly passenger stated she needed a flight to the bank to withdraw $25,000. Rajbir Singh got a 92-year-old lady in Roseville, California, two weeks back. When he started talking with her, Singh said she told him she was about to withdraw the cash to settle a debt with the IRS. He pleaded with the lady to reassess, stating he believed this might be a rip-off. Singh even detoured to a police headquarters to assist convince his traveler not to withdraw her money. “I am a truthful man, and these are old people. They require assistance,” Singh, the owner of Roseville Cab, informed CNN on Thursday. “It simply made sense.” As Singh spoke to the female, she informed him that someone had actually called her and asked for the money. When he asked if it was a member of the family, the female grew silent. Singh stated the female consented to let him call the number to the individual who was impersonating an Internal Revenue Service worker. “We called this number again and I asked the male, ‘Do you understand this girl?’ He said no,” Singh said. “I understood something was incorrect.” When Singh pressed the male, stating the female was 92 years old and she was worried, the guy hung up on him. After duplicated calls back, Singh stated the number blocked them. Despite that, Singh stated the woman still didn’t think him, so he came up with another idea. “Raj pleaded with the female to reevaluate so they accepted visit the Roseville Police headquarters to ask an officer,” the authorities department stated in a post on Facebook. Singh spoke to an officer in the station, who then consulted with the female, authorities said. The discussion with the officer worked, and the woman believed she was being scammed. “We like this story due to the fact that a number of times throughout, Raj might have just taken his client to her stop and not fretted about her wellbeing,” Roseville police said in the Facebook post. “He took some time from his day and had the terrific planning to bring the almost-victim to the police headquarters for an official response.” Roseville police stated Singh was worthy of a “fantastic citizen award” in a statement. “His quick thinking saved a senior $25,000 and for that, we greatly value his efforts,” authorities stated. Singh took his passenger house, her checking account saved. A week after the potential fraud was thwarted, Singh stated he got a call asking him to come back to the station. Officers provided Singh a $50 present card to thank him for what he did. from https://taxi.nearme.host/taxi-driver-saves-an-elderly-woman-from-being-scammed-out-of-25k-it-just-made-sense/ Shoppers fear plans scrapping one hour free parking will create ghost towns Nottinghamshire Live2/20/2020

Shoppers have said proposals to scrap one hour free parking across a council’s car parks would create “ghost towns” and put people off shopping. Plans to introduce a simplified two-tier charging system are expected to be sent to Erewash Borough Council’s budget setting meeting in March. If agreed, the new charges would see drivers at council-owned car parks pay £1 for up to three hours and £3 for any period over three hours. The change would not affect rates at the commuter car park at Long Eaton Railway Station. But people are worried that the affect would put people off “nipping into town” for essentials. Sally Jones, 59, of Long Eaton, said: “I think it will affect small businesses for sure. People like the freedom of being able to nip into town for an hour and grab what they need. “People may not bother as much if it gets approved.” “I like the thought behind wanting people to stay longer, but there’s no need to really for some people,” said Dawn Norton, 41, of Ilkeston. “It just seems a bit another way to make money. I’d prefer if it as say two hours for free then charge a bit more for longer stays. “If they’re not careful, the towns will end up as ghost towns. It’s important to celebrate local business and you’ve got to be able to access that as easily as possible.” Martin Beechdale, 50, of Long Eaton, added: “It removes the concept of nipping in to town for a breakfast bite to eat or picking up some essentials. “Although £1 is not a lot people will resent paying it – it will have an effect.” Councillor Michael Powell, Erewash Borough Council’s lead member for regeneration and planning, said: “This move, if agreed, will encourage people to stay longer in Ilkeston and Long Eaton town centres. “We believe a simplified two-price system will work well and that the new rates are fair and compare favourably to charges in other local authority areas.” Additional income generated from the changes would help the council meet the long term costs of maintaining and upgrading the car parks, the authority added. The meeting of Council Executive is at Long Eaton Town Hall on Tuesday, February 18 at 10.30am. The budget-setting Full Council meeting is at Ilkeston Town Hall on Thursday, March 5 at 7pm. from https://taxi.nearme.host/shoppers-fear-plans-scrapping-one-hour-free-parking-will-create-ghost-towns-nottinghamshire-live/ Mentor assistant retires after dedicating life to working at St Anns school Nottinghamshire Live2/20/2020 She said: “It’s been a long journey and there has actually been a lot of turnover here.”When I look back, the time has actually just flown by.”It’s been a lovely last day, all the kids have been planning things for me. from https://taxi.nearme.host/mentor-assistant-retires-after-dedicating-life-to-working-at-st-anns-school-nottinghamshire-live/

Plans have actually been lodged to build a Co-operative store at a former car garage in Market Warsop – regardless of there already being 2 other shops throughout the parish. The proposals would see Oak Garage, at the junction of Hetts Lane and Church Street, converted into a Lincolnshire Co-operative branch with the objective to “improve the retail arrangements” in the neighborhood. Submitted by Structure Architects on behalf of the Co-operative chain, the objective of the store would be to function as a “top-up” store for citizens instead of a “destination-type” centre – regardless of there being no big grocery store there. The files state: “The proposed corner store is designed and located to react to the regional community. “The size of the corner store is sustainable within the regional neighborhood, and does not depend on a wider catchment location for its sustainability. “It will enhance the variety of retail and neighborhood arrangements to the growing regional community, and offers a suitable relationship with Church Street.” The new store would be situated simply 0.3 miles far from a National Co-op store on High Street, while demolition work started in the fall to demolish The Gate bar on Mansfield Roadway – which will eventually end up being a Central England Co-operative store. Warsop citizens have actually called for a larger supermarket in the location for many years, and came close in 2010 when plans for a Tesco at the previous Strand Movie theater site, also on Church Street, were submitted. The Tesco strategies ultimately fell through and made method for the upcoming Strand Advancement, which implies a variety of retail units will concern the location, consisting of Heron Foods. Some citizens have actually branded the Co-op prepares as “absurd” online, saying that the parish requires a grocery store “not another Co-op” – especially in close quarters to the two other stores. Tania Barlow, commenting on a Warsop community page, told Mansfield Live: “This is ridiculous. We need a supermarket like Aldi or Lidl, not another Co-op.” But others believe it would be a great move by having a store at the garage website. Nigel Pike said: “I think altering the garage to a supermarket of any kind is a helpful for Warsop. “It’s unfortunate that it’s another co-op but it’s different to the others, and in a few years who knows, it might be another supermarket once the building is developed.” Strategies will be thought about at a later date by Mansfield District Council’s planning committee. from https://taxi.nearme.host/plans-lodged-for-3rd-co-op-shop-in-notts-town-nottinghamshire-live/ Raj Singh, who is the owner of Roseville Cabs in California, was called to pick up a 92-year-old female from her home in Sun City and take her to a close-by bank. Ex-Love Island presenter Caroline Flack has been found dead at the age of 40. The presenter’s body was found at home on Valentine’s Day. Her family has been informed. She had recently returned to the UK after spending some time in LA, where it’s believed she was taking a wellness break, the Mirror reports. A family spokesperson told The Sun: “We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February. “We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time.” She had travelled to the US after stepping down from her position as Love Island host. Caroline had been due to stand trial on March 4 after pleading not guilty to assault by beating following an early-morning altercation with her boyfriend Lewis Burton. Caroline was a huge star who began her television career back in 2001 when she appeared in TV movie Is Harry on the Boat? The TV presenter took to Nottingham’s Theatre Royal stage in October 2017 where she made her theatrical debut playing Irene in hit musical Crazy For You. Caroline was also seen out and about in the city’s streets taking pictures with fans who shared them on social media while she was starring in the show. She’s had other acting jobs, in the likes of Bo’ Selecta, but it was in presenting that she became a huge star. Caroline worked on shows including Fame Academy, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and its spin-off, Britain’s Got More Talent and The X Factor. But it’s Love Island that brought her the most fame. She hosted the hit ITV2 dating show and its spin-off Aftersun from 2015 to 2019, but stepped down from her role after being arrested at her North London home following an alleged altercation with her boyfriend. She had been banned from contacting him during a court appearance in December, meaning the couple were forced to spend Valentine’s Day apart. Former professional tennis player Lewis had made a public declaration of his love for her on Valentine’s Day. He had confirmed they were still together by sharing a throwback picture of them in happier times. He wrote: “Happy Valentine’s. Love you.” In December, Caroline announced she was leaving her job on Love Island just days before she was due to fly out to South Africa to host the first ever Winter Series. Confirming the news, she wrote on Instagram: “Love Island has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on telly. “In order not to detract from the attention of the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is stand down for Series 6.” * Samaritans is available round the clock, every single day of the year, providing a safe place for anyone who is struggling to cope.
